QLD:St George residents urged to get out

BRISBANE, Feb 5 AAP - Residents of St George have been urged to evacuate as the southwest
Queensland town awaits an expected record flood peak.

Balonne Shire Council advised residents on Sunday morning to leave via the Moonie Highway
while access remains open.

Mayor Donna Stewart said the Balonne River has risen faster than expected and is likely
to eclipse record levels by mid-Monday, and could keep on rising.

She urged everyone to register with the Red Cross once they have evacuated.
