NSW: National park open for fireworks
SYDNEY, Dec 26 AAP - Revellers are welcome to see in the New Year at Sydney Harbour
National Park so long as they respect the bush and safety of other people.
New South Wales Environment Minister Bob Debus has announced crowd restrictions at
a number of key sites where people will view the millennium fireworks display.
"At Bradleys Head there will be a limit of 10,000 visitors, Nielsen Park will have
a limit of 8000 and North Head will have a limit of 2000," Mr Debus said.
"Staff will be on hand to advise the public on access and other issues but visitors
can assist by keeping to formed tacks and roadways, carrying a torch, staying behind fence
lines, ensuring children are fully supervised and by taking their rubbish home."
A number of dangerous areas around cliffs have been closed for the night including
South Head, Chowder Head, Middle Head and Georges Head.
A total fire ban will be enforced in the harbourside national park from 9am, December
31, until 9am on New Year's Day and no camping is allowed.
